Gingival (Gum) Surgery

To improve the appearance and function of the oral cavity, certain surgical procedures involving the soft tissues are necessary. These soft tissue procedures include:

  • Gingival Grafting ( a gum graft ) --- a procedure to replace lost or inadequate gum tissue.
  • Frenectomy --- often necessary to enable total movement of the tongue or to help close a space between the front teeth.
  • Gingivectomy or Gingivalplasty --- a recontouring of the gum tissue, to rid one of excessive tissue and to elongate the teeth and to improve appearance and to enhance ones smile.
